Herbs and Spices

Stimulate, “warm”, promote circulation, comfort, destroy bacteria and virus like nobody’s business, and chase away frigidity, sadness, and bluesy moods in a heartbeat.

A couple of years ago, I vacationed with friends near Miami. Strolling along the breathtaking boardwalk, we came across the most charming open air market…I was curious as the sounds of exciting salsa music, streamers, and brightly colored wild flowers beckoned me inside…

The air that night was hot, dry and sweet. There were just enough breezes to make the moment one in a million. And to boot, there was an unmistakable passion in the air!

The band members both male and female were dressed in turn of the century Mexican contour…a feast for the ear and the eye!

This is much like the effect of spice oils, which may seem like a no-brainer, but these saucy oils have a distinctly warming, comforting, “spicy”, passionate and stimulating effect!

Think of how heartwarming and soothing the smell of fresh baked apple-cinnamon pie is!

Have you ever had a spicy, hot meal on a cold, bitter day? Remember how it immediately chased away that chilly, bluesy sensation and left you feeling stimulated, warmed, and with a sense of “well-being”!

That is precisely the effect of spice oils…they stimulate, “warm”, promote circulation, comfort, destroy bacteria and virus like nobody’s business, and chase away frigidity, sadness, and bluesy moods in a heartbeat.

A word of caution: often spice oils can be very irritating to the skin…never use in direct contact with eyes, mucous membranes, genitals, or facial skin.

Common essential oils in this category include:Cinnamon, Ginger, Clove bud, Nutmeg, Turmeric, Oregano, Sage, Bay, Dill, Cumin, Cardamom (though technically a flower imparts a more spicy effect), Cassia

Mints and Menthols

Stimulate, refresh, cool, soothe, cleanse, and tone.
Whether you’re looking for mental clarity and focus, a “breath of fresh air”, to clear your lungs and restore free breathing, or to freshen a stale environment…Mints and Menthols are the oils for the job.

Think about the last time you savored a menthol cough drop, ate a bowl of mint ice cream, or enjoyed a candy cane.

Remember how your sinuses probably cleared instantly, and the minty sensation left a cool, tingling, fresh sensation? Perhaps your mind was clear and refreshed.

Mints and Menthols are by nature stimulating, refreshing, cooling, and soothing, cleansing, and toning.

Mints and Menthols are so easy to spot by their…well…Minty/Camphor Smell!

Whether you’re looking for mental clarity and focus, a “breath of fresh air”, to clear your lungs and restore free breathing, or to freshen a stale environment…Mints and Menthols are the oils for the job.

So, Mints and Menthols refresh, clarify, cool, and cleanse.

For years we sold a NaPCA (moisture) mist with essential oil of peppermint…it sold rather well because it’s a great way to tone, cleanse, and cool skin on hot days…or hot flashes!

Common oils in this category include:

Eucalyptus, Camphor, Peppermint, Spearmint, Tea Tree, Rosemary, Hyssop, Thyme, Cajeput, Sweet Birch, Camphor, and even Basil

Woods and Roots

Remember the last time you strolled through
The woods on a balmy, autumn day…gently kicking
Your way through the leaves, inhaling the sweet,
Earthy air…and feeling like all is right with the world!

Well, naturally that is the same effect you can expect
When using woods and roots…

More than this… think of the bulging, towering, and massive Strength of an Oak or Cypress Tree…Standing like a statue, Yet Bending with the grace of a willow.

Much like the stiff and hearty trunks of a tree, Woods & Roots
Have assisted mankind for millennium by fortifying the nervous, immune, lymphatic, and respiratory systems by building, restoring, and strengthening just like a tree grows a stronger, more massive trunk when compromise.

Woods and Roots also naturally ground us from the anxieties and
pressures of everyday life, they help us to feel safe and connected to the world in a peaceful, loving way…

…in much the same way a tree spreads powerful and massive root systems into the ground to stabilize and anchor itself!

Woods are earthy, healing, soothing, and supremely grounding
and are an outstanding way to relieve anxiety and fear!

Made from the responsibly harvested woods, and roots of hundreds of different species….

Woods are like a “hug” from Mother Nature.

I often used vetiver, patchouli, and sandalwood to relieve performance anxiety on stage. What a life Saver!

I huffed the oil from a small vial and the effect was dramatic…I was calm, centered, and “in the moment”.

So, woods ground, calm, sooth, heal, and relieve anxious tension!

Common oils in this category include: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cedarwood, Myrrh, Frankincense, Vetiver, Petitgrain, Cypress, Pines, Rosewood, Fir Needle, Juniper.

Calm, Ground Us, and Create a Sense Of Peace and Stability. Woods & Roots Are notoriously good for fortifying our immune systems, restoring our constitution when we are tired and compromised, as well as restoring free breathing.

Florals and Herbals

It’s No mistake that flowers have been given for virtually any and every occasion known to man.

They are a Universal Symbol of Love, Grace, Forgiveness, Compassion, Erotic Passion, and Understanding!

Floral oils impart virtually the same effect on your psyche…makes sense doesn’t it!

The seductive use of flowers and their fragrances have been an integral part of humanity since time immemorial!

We’ve been using flowers in cosmetic and perfume preparations since the ancients!

Flowers have always been given as a symbol of love, warmth, celebration, affection, beauty and comfort.

Floral oils immediately place us in touch with our hearts and our sensual nature…they are often even euphoric.

Think of the last time you received a dozen roses…. remember the Mmmmm sound you made as you closed your eyes and inhaled deeply?

Reminds you of being in love don’t it!

For very good reason…Florals are aphrodisiac and inspiring… instantly putting us in touch with the qualities of self acceptance, open heartedness, forgiveness, love, and our own “warm fuzzy feelings”!

Florals have also been used for centuries to scent and beautify the skin… just like the moist petals of a flower; floral essential oils attract moisture to the skin (known as a humectants) giving a moist, supple, youthful glow.

There’s a good reason your grandmother used rose floral water on her skin all those years!

At least when it comes to the mood elevating properties of essential oil use…are you starting to see how easily all essential oils can be quickly assigned to one of five categories for quick reference?

Pardon my enthusiasm, but I think it’s downright awesome to be able to grasp essential oil use so quickly!!

Common essential oils in this category are:
Rose, Ylang Ylang, Neroli, Chamomile, Lavender, Jasmine, Helichrysum, Geranium, Clary Sage, Melissa, and more...

Herbal As It Relates To Floral…

Herbs are a cross between a floral and a spice because they have the sweet soothing, floral fragrance of a flower with a sharp top note of a spice. But for your purposes of quickly categorizing
Oils, we’ll include herbs in the floral category rather
than spices.

Herbal oils are great for stimulating and detoxifying the body…
Like their dried herbal counterparts, herbal oils are magnificent healers that naturally help your body bring balance back to your internal systems.

Think of the fresh smell of Clary Sage or Hyssop…they are naturally sweet, herbal, with a slight medicinal quality.

FLORALS & HERBAL: aphrodisiac and inspiring… Florals instantly put our own “warm fuzzy feelings” and us in touch with the qualities of self-acceptance, open heartedness, forgiveness, love! Also excellent for moisturizing, healing, and beautifying the skin!
